Project Environment

Acatenango is a rural region with high levels of poverty and dependence on coffee as a seasonal crop. Families often survive on less than USD 2 per day, with limited access to stable employment and education.

Challenges faced by the community include:
- Malnutrition and food insecurity.
- Limited access to healthcare.
- School dropout rates, especially after primary school.
- Gender inequality, with many mothers unable to work due to childcare responsibilities.

Las Nubes addresses these issues directly by empowering children and mothers, linking education with nutrition, health, and community engagement.

Improve child development through balanced nutrition, medical attention, and access to quality education.
Support working mothers by providing a safe and stimulating environment for their children.
Promote community health via workshops on nutrition, hygiene, preventive medicine, and family planning.
Encourage sustainability by connecting with the coffee value chain and fundraising initiatives linked to specialty coffee.
